Charlie Sands, a whitewater rafting pioneer, was among the first to offer commercial trips down the Snake River rapids in 1964. Fast forward to 2005, the whitewater rafting industry has grown considerably and many companies compete for tourist attention. Sands Whitewater is still one of the best managed and most respected companies in business.
In the face of competition from other companies, Charlie realized that he needed to renew his brand in order to differentiate Sands from competing rafting companies. Charlie asked Portis Group to completely redesign his brochure and advertisements to communicate Sands’ commitment to the best service and experience possible. Portis Group began by hiring an action photographer and art directing the shots to give the viewer the feel of actually being on a raft. These captivating images along with smart copy that leads the viewer through the journey combined with dramatically improved print production, has given Charlie marketing materials that clearly shows Sands as a market leader in the rafting sector.
